Honey Chicken

A Chinese crowd-pleaser which is usually complicated to make, we have simplified the recipe, without compromising on the quality and taste of the dish. 

Ingredients

  1. 2 chicken breasts
  2. 3 tbsp honey
  3. 2 tbsp corn starch
  4. 1/2 cup plain flour
  5. 1/2 tsp baking powder
  6. 1 tbsp white vinegar
  7. 2 tbsp soy sauce
  8. 1/4 cup soda water (or plain water)

Recipe

  • First thing’s first, cut up the chicken into chunks
  • Marinade the it in soy sauce, white vinegar and salt

  • Next, mix together flour, corn starch, baking powder, salt and a bit of oil  
  • Add cold soda water and whisk
  • Using tongs, mix the chicken pieces into the mixture

  • Place the battered chicken into hot oil, one by one to prevent them sticking together
  • Take out onto a drip tray

  • To make the sauce

    1. Add honey to the stove and a tiny bit of soy sauce, white vinegar and salt
    2. Don’t over-cook it like I have!  Keep it light
    3. Mix in the chicken and toss

Serve with white or brown rice or noodles and enjoy with chopsticks!
