Chicken Schnitzel

A classic meal and crowd favourite, chicken schnitzel is satisfying, filling and nutritious. 

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup milk
  2. 1 egg
  3. 2 chicken breasts
  4. 1 tsp salt
  5. 1 cup breadcrumbs
  6. 1 cup four

Recipe

01.

 

  1. Remove any fat from the chicken
  2. Slice it thinly
  3. Salt generously and rub in

The chopping board and knife should go straight in the sink, for hygiene purposes

  • Add egg to milk and mix
  • Pour flour and breadcrumbs on a sheet of baking paper (for easy disposal later)

  • Using a fork, tongs or your hands, coat the schnitzel first in flour
  • Dip it in the egg/milk mixture
  • Next, coat the chicken in breadcrumbs
  • Make sure you coat the sides

  1. Add the schnitzel pieces to a saucepan with a generous amount of oil for frying (make sure the oil is hot, using a pinch of breadcrumbs which fizzle)
  2. Include as many pieces as you can – they won’t stick to each other
  3. Fry for 5 minutes a side, 3 times (first side, second side and first side again)
  4. Make sure they’re crispy brown

05.

  1. Using tongs, remove the chicken pieces from the saucepan, making sure the oil drips off
  2. Place the schnitzel on paper towels to soak up excess oil

Serve with your choice of roast vegetables and enjoy this classic pub meal
